The Bible Says the Last Days Before King Jesus Christ Returns Will Be Dangerous Times Full of Great Stress and Trouble
1But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times [of great stress and trouble] will come [difficult days that will be hard to bear]. 2For people will be lovers of self [narcissistic, self-focused], lovers of money [impelled by greed], boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane, 3[and they will be] unloving [devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane], irreconcilable, malicious gossips, devoid of self-control [intemperate, immoral], brutal, haters of good, 4traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of [sensual] pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5holding to a form of [outward] godliness (religion), although they have denied its power [for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith]. (1 Timothy 3:1 Amplified Version)
Does this sound like the times we are experiencing? Yes, we are living in the last days! The last days will end when King Jesus Christ returns to earth at his Second Coming to set up his kingdom and rule the nations from his throne in Jerusalem, Israel.
The disciples wanted to know when the last days would occur and what signs would precede his coming at the end of the age. This passage in the book of Matthew talks about the signs of the times before his return:
3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
4Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.
(Matthew 24:3-8 NIV)
The frequency of birth pains increases as the time of birth is near. The increasing frequency of natural disasters, wars, deception, and wickedness are all signs of the times that point to the soon return of King Jesus Christ.
We Are Living in the Last of the Last Days Before King Jesus Christ Returns
The last days in the Bible are the times between Jesus Christ’s ascension to heaven and his son’s return which is called his Second Coming. The last days end when Jesus Christ returns from heaven with his conquering armies to rule the nations. At his Second Coming, he will defeat the antichrist, wicked kings, and their followers. He will establish the kingdom of God on earth. King Jesus Christ will reign forever.
At the First Coming, Jesus Christ was a humble, suffering, sinless Messiah. His death on the cross paid the penalty for everyone’s sins and make it possible for anyone who believes in him to be forgiven. This results in a person being supernaturally born-again by the Holy Spirit. This results in a person being made new from the inside out. They receive eternal life, are reconciled to God, and become citizens in the kingdom of God.
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be unexpected as a thief in the night. The Second Coming will be a day of reckoning. Jesus Christ will return from heaven with his heavenly armies of saints and angels as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He will destroy the evil armies surrounding Israel to wipe the nation off the face of the earth. They will quickly be defeated, and his kingdom will replace all other kingdoms past and present with his eternal kingdom!
The World Is on a Fast Track to Armageddon
The end of the book of Revelation describes the Second Coming of King Jesus Christ quite dramatically. This passage describes the return of King Jesus Christ and the ensuing battle of Armageddon:
11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (Revelation 19:11-16 KJV)
It is not a pleasant thought to think about the death of millions maybe billions who are living in the world who do not know Jesus Christ. When he returns at his Second Coming, the time of his patience and mercy has run out. No is the time for his wrath to be poured out on those who reject his sacrifice and mercy. You will find out the hard way after you reject Jesus Christ, who is the savior of the world, that you will face his wrath.
There is a time coming when decisions will be made that will seal your eternal destiny. Will you be on the winning side during the Battle of Armageddon? Or will you be on the losing side and face an eternity experiencing the eternal wrath of God? If you do not already believe in Jesus Christ, there is still hope for you. You can turn away from eternal death and become a believer in Jesus Christ and receive eternal life.
It Is Important to Understand the Signs of the Times
We need to realize the times and seasons we are living in. God’s way of life is under assault. The world is more polarized and divided than at any other time I can remember. Most people can see that there is an obvious spiritual battle going on with evil forces. These evil forces are at work in the earth going about destroying and corrupting everything that is good.
The sons of Issachar were mentioned several times in the Bible. They were known for their ability to discern and understand the times with spiritual wisdom and insight from God. Issachar was one of the twelve sons of Jacob.
And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; … (1 Chronicles 12:32 KJV)
I believe God wants us to be like the sons of Issachar and understand the times we are living in and know what we should do for our nation and the world. Whose side will you be on when King Jesus Christ Returns?
We are living in the last days before King Jesus Christ’s return to establish the kingdom of God on earth. The signs of the times indicate that his return is approaching soon. Can you discern the signs of the times? Whose side will you be on when he returns in victory to rule and reign in his kingdom? When Jesus Christ returns to rule in his kingdom, will you be ready?
When King Jesus Christ Returns Will You Be Ready?
The First Coming of Jesus Christ made it possible for anyone who calls upon his name to receive eternal life. This means you are saved from the punishment that is coming from God on all people who reject his forgiveness and mercy. Salvation can only be found by having faith in his son, Jesus Christ. God is holy and no one with unforgiven sin can be part of his family. Anyone who does not have their sins completely forgiven, that is anyone whose name is not written in the Lamb’s (Jesus Christ’s) book of life, will spend an eternity in the lake of fire.
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 20:15 NIV)
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15 KJV)
Until Jesus Christ comes with his kingdom, we can make ourselves ready for his return and continue to pray:
9 ... Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
(Matthew 6:9-10 KJV)
If you are not right with God, you still have time to change your eternal direction. Follow these ABCs of how to be saved in the link below, and you can surely know you are forgiven and saved from his wrath being poured out on the wicked at the of the last days before his Second Coming.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Hopefully, you have already chosen to follow Jesus Christ when his kingdom comes. If you have not already chosen to follow him, you should make the choice to follow him as soon as possible.
