Snow Symbolizes God’s Forgiveness Cleansing and Purity

A couple of days ago our local weather forecasters were expecting an accumulating snowfall here in Arkansas. So, along with everyone else and their brother, I braved the crowds at the grocery store and stocked up on emergency survival supplies. It is not unusual before snowstorms in Arkansas for everyone to prepare for Snowmageddon and strip grocery store shelves of milk, bread and eggs. It turns out the weather forecasters were right. By Arkansas standards, it did snow a lot. It snowed. eight inches where I live, and as much as a foot of snow in other places.

The average January snowfall is about two inches in Arkansas. Snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels are not common here. When it snows more than a couple of inches, everything shuts down. There are lots of hilly streets in our area that become dangerously impassable when covered with ice and snow. That is why schools and many businesses are closed today. Children are enjoying a snow holiday from school, and others are just glad to have a day off. I’m getting too old for snow angels and sleds, so I will stay put until the snow melts and the roads are clear. I will enjoy the beauty of the snow outside my window and the break from the normal hustle and bustle of most days.

Because I am snowbound and inspired by the white landscape outside my window, I looked up references to snow in the Bible. I found these seven important Bible verses that mention snow. These verses show us how snow symbolizes God’s forgiveness, cleansing, and purity. In the book of Revelation, snow describes the look of the garments of King Jesus Christ.

Seven Important Bible Verses that Mention Snow

Here are seven important Bible verses that mention snow from the KJV Bible.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (Isaiah 1:18 KJV)
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (Psalms 51:7 KJV)
And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: (Matthew 28:2-3 KJV)
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. (Job 37:5-6 KJV)
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: (Isaiah 55:10 KJV)
I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. (Daniel 7:9)
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; (Revelation 1:14)

Bible Verses About Snow Reveal to Us Important Knowledge About God and His Son Jesus Christ

God created snow, just like he created water. The seven Important Bible verses about snow touch on significant topics. In these verses can gain knowledge of God as the creator, Judge, and Sovereign King of the Universe.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is God. John the Apostle said this:

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14 NIV)

Every word in the Bible can tell us something about Jesus Christ. The word of God took on human form in Jesus Christ. The word of God became flesh and bone and lived among us. It should not surprise you that you can learn a lot about Jesus and God by looking up words and verses throughout the Bible.

Colossae was an ancient Greek city that is now located in modern day Turkey. The church in this city was founded during the ministry of the Apostle Paul. In his letter written to this church while he was imprisoned in Rome, he said this about Jesus Christ:

For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. (Colossians 1:16 NIV)

Everything in creation was created through him and for Jesus Christ. He is returning soon to the earth to remove wickedness and rule and reign along with other believers in the Body of Christ.

The book of Revelation says you were created for his pleasure.

The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:10-11 KJV)

The earth and the fulness belong to God. He has created every good thing for us to enjoy. It gives him joy to see us enjoy the things he has provided for us. He wants us to recognize every good and perfect gift that comes from the Lord, and he wants us to enjoy them and share them with others.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (James 1:17 NASB)
Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. (1 Timothy 6:7 KJV)

Many people most often think of their own pleasure and miss the importance of pleasing God. Are you making the most out of your day to please God wherever you are?
